Madrid Spain.- Opdenergy, an independent producer of sustainable energy focused on solar photovoltaic and onshore wind technologies, receives a commercial operation permit from the National Electrical Coordinator in the Sol de Los Andes photovoltaic park, with 104 MWp of installed capacity, distributed among more of 239,000 bifacial photovoltaic modules.

With the entry into operation of this park, Opdenergy consolidates its position as one of the main renewable IPPs in Chile with 171MW in operation and a portfolio of projects under development of more than 1GW additional. The Company has also been awarded in several renewable auctions in the country; the 2016 auction whose energy is supplied by this new solar park and the La Estrella wind farm, and the 2021 auction, in which Opdenergy was awarded 819 GWh/year for 15 years, accumulating 1TWh of total contracted energy.

The Sol de los Andes project is located 15 km from the commune of Diego de Almagro, Atacama Region, in an area with high levels of irradiation and with an estimated generation of more than 280GWh/year, which is equivalent to the annual consumption of 35,000 homes allowing to avoid the emission of 108,000 annual tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.

Opdenergy achieved the first injection into the grid of the solar park at the end of last November after completing the work in which more than 340 jobs have been generated in the region. Sol de los Andes is Opdenergy’s largest wind farm in Chile and the second large-scale project in the country, together with the La Estrella wind farm located in the O’Higgins Region. La Estrella, which was inaugurated together with the authorities of the Ministry of Energy in September 2021, has an installed capacity of 50MW and produces 100GWh/year, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of almost 13,000 homes.

Opdenergy is a platform with 2GW of capacity distributed between operational capacity, under construction and in the pre-construction phase.
