The Pérez Rumbao automotive group acquires the majority of Lafuga Spazio

ADAPTATION TO THE NEW SITUATION. José Fresco, founder and CEO of the chain, Lafuga Cycling, has stated that they have spent months in their marketing and innovation area preparing their adaptation to this new situation.

The Pérez Rumbao group, leader in the automotive sector in Galicia, has just become the majority shareholder of the company Lafuga Spazio, which governs the chain of cycling stores, Lafuga Cycling. The objective of the operation is to create a large operator of sustainable mobility in the northwest of the peninsular.

After the acquisition of the majority package of shares of Lafuga Spazio, by the Pérez Rumbao automotive group, this business integration constitutes, according to the two parties, “the solid base to face the challenges and objectives of said alliance”. These are: to improve the competitive position of the Lafuga Cycling bicycle chain, to open new points of sale for it in Galicia, as well as in the Northwest of the Peninsula, and to professionalize its areas, which should lead to a substantial increase in its billing and, consequently, make Lafuga Cycling the first sustainable mobility operator in the northwest of the peninsula.

LaFuga Spazio currently manages six points of sale located in A Coruña, Oleiros, Vigo, Santiago, Ourense and Narón. Likewise, since the last quarter of last year 2021, it has reinforced its human team, with the addition of personnel in all areas of the company, meeting the needs of the market.

STRATEGIC PLAN

For the Galician automotive group Pérez Rumbao, this acquisition “is part of its strategic plan of commitment to sustainability and reduction of carbon footprint”.

It also allows you to respond to your “corporate social responsibility (CSR) objectives, in terms of the search for less polluting and truly ecological transport alternatives”, as well as “face the challenges of mobility hand in hand with an experienced company in the specialized treatment and customer orientation”.

From Pérez Rumbao they emphasize that Lafuga Cycling “has a top-level team that continues to grow and is transforming digitally”.

SOLID CENTENARY BUSINESS GROUP

Pérez Rumbao is the largest automotive operator in Galicia, with more than 100 years in the market. It has 46 companies, 65 facilities and 1,300 employees.

The group is dedicated to the distribution of vehicles for the transport of goods and people, and the manufacture of tourist buses that it exports to half the world, billing more than 450 million a year.

It also has the largest network of dealerships in the northwest of the peninsula, representing 18 car brands and 3 industrial vehicle brands.

GREATER OFFER IN MOBILITY

According to LaFuga Spazio sources, “this operation will not only strengthen our group of stores, but will also support one of our strategic challenges, while increasing our offer in mobility, a market with great growth potential, especially with electrical services and products. ”.

One of the key aspects between both Companies is their clear orientation and transformation to the philosophy of mobility; mainly valuing having services, products and sellers oriented to the new social scenario, and to the use of digital solutions that facilitate usability and proximity to the client.

GEOGRAPHICAL EXPANSION

Initially, it is planned to expand the group of stores where there are still opportunities in Galicia and, later, to grow in the northwest area of ​​the peninsula, Asturias, Cantabria and Castilla-León.

At the moment, no number of target stores has been proposed, nor has other possible peninsular locations been excluded.

The founder and CEO of LaFuga Cycling, Jose Fresco, points out that they have spent months in their marketing and innovation area preparing their adaptation to this new situation, with processes and qualified personnel to offer the services and products that the mobility market demands. ; and on the other hand, with the implementation and use of digital tools to provide a better and more efficient response to the customer, in a similar way as the automotive sector is doing.

Both companies agree in pointing out that they expect “excellent results” by uniting their experiences, their knowledge, their human teams and digitization in the mobility, leisure and sports sector.

LaFuga Cycling and Pérez Rumbao have not provided the amount of the operation, nor the percentage of shares.
