Puma and the Lega presented the Órbita Serie A ball

Puma’s Orbita uses state-of-the-art technology to create an optimal sphere that maintains its shape and allows for less water absorption.

(26-8-2022). The global sports brand Puma and Lega Serie A presented the new 2022/23 Serie A soccer ball. Puma has already announced that it has become the official technical sponsor of the Lega Serie A.

With a total audience of more than one billion viewers in almost 200 countries and more than 530 million fans worldwide, Lega Serie A is one of the most watched leagues. Puma is actively involved in Italian football with iconic teams like AC Milan and US Sassuolo, and over the years has collaborated with much-loved players like Diego Armando Maradona, Giorgio Chiellini and Gigi Buffon.

With the dawn of a new era in Lega Serie A, Puma presented the new ball with a mix of elements from Italian culture with a modern and disruptive design. The Puma Orbita Serie A features striking graphics inspired by the Lega Serie A logo combined with elements of Italian art and, as an added detail, the Italian tricolor placed around each of the custom graphics.

The field is a blank canvas with the ball as the centerpiece. The new ball is a combination of black, red, cool grey, sunset red and amazon green colors integrated with a blue color palette on a white base to ensure excellent visibility.

Characteristic

The ball has been designed with a unique configuration of 12 large star-shaped panels, which translates into a reduced number of seams. The Orbita uses state-of-the-art technology to create an optimal sphere that maintains its shape and allows for less water absorption.

“Over the last year and a half, we have developed, tested and modified the new Orbita to create a ball that will perform at the highest level. The new star-shaped 12-panel configuration results in the optimal sphere to allow a better connection with the ball,” said Thomas Schwarz, Puma Head of Product Line Management Teamsport Individual. “We are excited to see the new ball in action in one of the best leagues in the world and we hope that it will provide beautiful moments on the field of play.”

A POE foam has been incorporated to increase touch sensitivity, providing a firmer feel and better bounce consistency. In addition, the 1.2mm textured 3D PU surface improves aerodynamics and makes the ball more resistant to abrasion and wear, which translates into greater durability. The ball also features a PAL (Puma Air Lock) valve for optimal air retention.
