The new AEM Electrolyser EL 4.0 produced by Enapter allows companies to easily and quickly replace fossil fuels with green hydrogen. There are already 400 orders for new electrolysers to be delivered from summer 2022.
Berlin Germany.- Cleantech company Enapter (WKN A255G0) launches the first standardized electrolyser suitable for mass production. With this, it intends to boost the green hydrogen market by imitating the success obtained with the commodification, rapid acceptance and reduction of costs of standardized solar panels. The AEM EL 4.0 electrolyser is a unique solution for green hydrogen production — and the next step in replacing fossil fuels.
EL 4.0 is the fourth generation of AEM (Anion Exchange Membrane) electrolyzers that Enapter has developed since 2017, and the new version is smaller, lighter and ISO 22734 certified. Enapter’s technology combines the advantages of materials low cost of alkaline electrolysers (steel instead of titanium) with the flexibility and compact size of PEM electrolysers. Standardized modules can be stacked and combined for projects of any size, up to the megawatt scale, where AEM Multicore Enapter technology comes into play based on identical AEM stack technology.
With its new model, Enapter wants to meet the strong demand for electrolysers that are easily installed and integrated. Customers have already placed more than 400 orders, even before the market launch. Enapter has more than 100 integration partners that install its green hydrogen generators around the world, driving decarbonization in sectors ranging from energy to mobility, industry and the built environment. The easy plug and play integration of EL 4.0 significantly shortens installation time for these integrator partners.

Serial production of the new electrolyzers is currently taking place at the Enapter plant in Pisa (Italy). First deliveries to integrators are planned for summer 2022. Mass production (> 10,000 AEM EL 4.0 modules per month) is scheduled to start ramping up from 2023 at the Enapter Campus – being built in Saerbeck , Germany.
