You know what they say: timing is everything, even when it comes to texting. After all, the last thing you want is to text your boss late at night for fear of forgetting tomorrow. Well, you can save yourself trouble by scheduling the message.

Whether you have an Android or an iPhone, you can send delayed text messages and forget about them. This post will explain how to schedule messages on iPhone, Samsung, and other Android devices. Then let's get started.

How to schedule text messages on Android

If you are an Android user, you probably have Google Messages as the default messaging app on your phone. And if that's the case, here's how you can schedule a text message using the Google Messages app on Android.

Step 1: Open the Messages app on your phone. Use the Start chat button to create a new conversation or open an existing conversation to write your message.

Step 2: Now press and hold the Send button until the “Schedule Shipment” window appears. Choose from the available times to send a message.

Note: If tapping and holding the send button does not display the Schedule Send window, first try updating the Messages app from the Google PlayStore.

Once sent, the message will have a clock icon next to it. You can use that to make changes to the scheduled message. For example, you choose to update the text of the message or change its schedule by selecting the Update message option.

Furthermore, you can also choose to send the message immediately or delete it entirely.

How to schedule text messages on Samsung

If you have a Samsung phone, it comes with the Samsung Messages app pre-installed instead of Google Messages. Fortunately, you won't have to switch, as Samsung Messages could be scheduling messages for quite some time. Is that how it works.

Step 1: Open the Samsung Messages app on your phone. Tap the compose message button or open any existing conversation.

That is all. Your message is now scheduled. Like Google Messages, if you want to make any changes to the message before it is sent, tap the message and choose from the available options to send it now, delete it, or edit it.

How to schedule text messages on iPhone

While scheduling messages on iPhone is not as straightforward as on Android, it is still possible. The default iPhone messaging app doesn't have a feature for scheduling text messages, but you can take advantage of the shortcut app on your iPhone to send a delayed text message from your iPhone. Here's how to do it.

Step 1: Launch the Shortcuts app on your iPhone. While the Shortcut application comes pre-installed on devices with iOS 13 or later. If your device is running on an older version, you will need to download the Shortcuts application from the App Store.

Once this is done, the iPhone will send the message at the scheduled time. However, a big caveat with this method is that it is automation. Therefore, the message will be sent to the person on the selected date every month.

So be sure to remove the automation once the message is sent. To remove automation, swipe from right to left on automation.

Other than that, the method seems to work perfectly when sending scheduled messages from your iPhone.

On time every time

As we have just seen, almost all current phones support delayed messages in one form or another. In addition to the above-mentioned methods, many dedicated third-party apps like Do it Later, Pulse SMS, Textra, etc. claim to get the job done effectively. With these apps, you also get some added benefits like scheduling fake emails, tweets, phone calls, and more.
